Works on lifts up to 10” where operating angle at the
transfer case is less than 25 degrees.
Your job is to shim the pinion to be a straight line with the drive
shaft within 3 degrees.
The Blazer rear drive shaft can be made stock, with the standard CV
or a heavy duty one ton 1350 CV. This drive shaft will remove vibrations
caused by a lift. The heavy duty one ton CV is used on high horse torque
vehicles and angles between 20-25 degrees.
We make two kits.
The slip yoke function is retained and a CV
incorporated onto the shaft. The slip yoke bolts to the CV and looks
like the picture below with only the slip yoke being of the type you
need. For 77 and up Chevy
Blazers, Jeep Wranglers, Tahoes, Suburbans, Pichups.
They look about the same except the
Jeep uses 27 spline yokes while Chevy uses 32 spline and Fords use
mostly 31 splines etc .
When
do I need a CV?
When the
angle of a single u-joint exceeds 5 degrees. Angles greater than this
make the u-joint vibrate.
When
do I need a high angle. Rules of thumb.
FRONT or
REAR: Lifts between 6 inches higher or when the angle at the transfer
case output exceeds 14 degrees or when the vehicle is built for lots of
articulation where the CV may bind at full extension.
When do I
need long travel. Rules of thumb.
When the extension (or travel) exceeds 2 inches or
when you have build you vehicle for high articulation or high movement
of the differentials like for rock crawling and other sports.
How do I measure extension? Measure the distance
between the transfer case and the differential at ride height, and then
lift the body and let the wheels droop and measure again. The difference
is your static extension, add .5 inches more for dynamic conditions and
that should be your extension.
What is standard spline versus long spline? Answer:
3.5 inches total versus 7 inch total travel. We have up to 26
inches of travel if you need it but it costs $35 for each additional 4
inches, just tell us on the comments how much travel you want beyond the
7 we offer.
Ok, I want to order on, look under the vehicle and
decide which of the output of the transfer case and input to the diff
you have and then ask, how
do I measure?
PLEASE NOTE: Some builders just say
they have high angle and others remove seals to achieve the high angle.
Be assured that our high angle CV have all the seals and rubber that
comes from the factory are used achieve the angle. Why? hard work and
innovation and we truly want to solve your angle problems without
causing others. Some of my competitors have elaborate write-ups,
disclaimer etc. on this subject. Some just hack and grind. Ask exactly
what is high angle and compare to ours.
NO HIGH
ANGLE CHEVY, DODGE, FORD AND JUST ANY SLIP YOKES WITH CV
